Honoring Ukraine’s Fallen Heroes and Civilians Killed by Russia

Memorial is the largest digital Ukrainian platform dedicated to honoring fallen soldiers and civilians by preserving their stories through documentary projects, digital archives, and initiatives. Our mission is to transform memory into action, ensuring that the victims of war are not reduced to numbers but remain in our hearts and society, inspiring the preservation of history and support for those still fighting for freedom.

Over 46,000*
Ukrainian defenders have given their lives.
More than 12,000*
civilians, including children, have been killed.

People are not the numbers.
They are lifes, stories, and memories that must not be forgotten.
Every story deserves to be told.

500+ broadcasts of stories on interactive screens in public spaces
Table of Remembrance
On August 29, 2024, the nationwide initiative, organized in partnership with the Hrabar Foundation, united 800 restaurants in Ukraine and abroad to honor fallen defenders. Participating venues reserved and decorated tables for the entire day, dedicating them to specific individuals, while visitors could add the names of their loved ones to the memorial plaques.
Lost Childhood
An international exhibition that shares the stories of Ukrainian children killed by Russia. Through personal memories, it preserves their voices and confronts the reality of war crimes against the youngest victims. Since its launch, the exhibition has been displayed in 25 countries worldwide. The photo shows the opening of the exhibition at the Seimas of Lithuania in September 2024.
Documentary Film Screenings
Over the past two years, Memorial has produced 18 documentary films honoring fallen defenders of Ukraine and civilian victims of Russia’s war crimes. Screenings have taken place in XX locations across Ukraine and abroad. Each film is accessible to a wide audience on the country's largest YouTube channels. The photo captures the screening of "Victory 118"— a film dedicated to the memory of 53 Ukrainians killed when a Russian ballistic missile struck a residential building in Dnipro.
Memory in Public Spaces
We are showcasing video tributes to three fallen defenders every day on Europe’s largest screen on the Gulliver Mall. Families travel to Kyiv specifically to see their loved ones commemorated on the big screen. These videos are also shown in public spaces, including major railway stations across the country, Intercity trains, before movie screenings at the cinemas, and on screens in other shopping centers. Throughout our collaboration, we have honored the memory of over 500 fallen soldiers.

Memory is a cornerstone of justice

Ukraine demands accountability from Russia, the aggressor state, for its war crimes and atrocities. Remembering the victims is not only about honoring their lives — it is a crucial step toward achieving just peace and ensuring that such crimes never happen again.

Our big goal in the future is to create the Memorial Museum, a modern public space in Kyiv.

It will tell the next generations, in Ukraine and worldwide, the story of this war through the stories of our people.
